The Spinal Cord

Your spinal cord is a long tube of nerve tissue that sends electrical signals between your brain and your body. Messages to your brain from your body give information for your brain to interpret sensation (touch, pressure, temperature, etc). The messages to your body from your brain result in movement, action (intentional movement like muscle contraction, reactive movement like blinking, etc)
